Good to know

For best results, use MEDCOAT® at room temperature. Swallow each coated tablet with water separately from other tablets so that the tablets do not stick together. For those who have difficulty swallowing tablets, it can be easier if the coated tablet is placed far back on the tongue before swallowing with water. Used applicators can be detached from the card.

How the applicator works

Each applicator can be used to coat two small or one big tablet. Before taking a tablet, the peel-off foil is removed from one of the applicators. The coating is then applied by pushing the tablet through the applicator and out through the opening in the elastic membrane in the bottom, which widens and applies a thin, even coating over the entire tablet. Wait for five seconds, then twist the tablet two turns and remove it by pulling quickly. The coated tablet should then be swallowed with the recommended amount of water.

Coating two tablets with one applicator

When an applicator is used for two tablets, first push one tablet through and twist it off. After that you can push a second tablet through, as long as the tablets are not too big. Swallow the coated tablets one at a time with water, since otherwise they can stick to each other.

Divided tablets

Divided round or oblong tablets should be pushed through as shown in the illustration (step 6). Please note that some tablets should not be divided.

If the coating is uneven or crumbly

  • Remember to remove the foil from both the top and the bottom side before use. Otherwise it is hard to push the tablet through.
  • Push the whole tablet all the way through the applicator. Don't pull the tablet before it has passed through completely, or the coating may become uneven.
  • When the tablet has passed through, wait a few seconds, then twist it a few turns so the coating isn't torn off.
  • Push the tablet through the oval opening on the top side, not through the cross on the underside. Otherwise the coating cannot close around the tablet.

Storage and recycling

The pouch is resealable and protects the applicators from drying out and from light. Store MEDCOAT® at room temperature, protected from sunlight, dry and out of reach of children. Heat above room temperature can make the coating melt. Recycle the pouch and the applicators as plastic, and the foil as metal.

Do not use MEDCOAT® with tablets and capsules that must be taken alone with plain water only. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are uncertain.
